Our Ghosts

OUR GHOSTS
It had nothing to do with that day’s headlines
That issue just could not be unfolded right in front of my eyes
A register, a bystander and the courtesy of a poorly hidden .45
An impossible love triangle where life had to pick a side
Don’t ask me why my doors are locked
Or what’s wrong with my face
If I can’t have the space, I’ll need the time
I can’t deal with this today
What am I looking for? I never required your filthy services.
And fuck your shady invitation, I think I’ll pass What were you thinking? Making a mess and then cowardly fleeing, leaving the premises.
Sick and tired of walking on egg shells, let alone broken glass
Don’t ask me why my doors are locked
Don’t ask me what’s wrong with my face
If I can’t have the space, I’ll need the time
I can’t deal with this today
This is another call to arms, to kick down those Purgatory doors
Since we’re well aware that we’re not home at home anymore
Let’s put down on paper an exhaustive list of what we call “our ghosts”
And elaborate a plan to get back what we need the most
We might fuck shit up, but it will be all right
Yeah we’ll fuck shit up, but it will be all right
And from the top of the Holy Mountain I breathe the open air again
And I can’t help but wonder where the engineers went wrong
I will burn my own bridges when the right time comes
If your time is running out, doesn’t mean I have to fall
This is another call to arms, to kick down those Purgatory doors
Since we’re well aware that we’re not home at home anymore
Let’s put down on paper an exhaustive list of what we call “our ghosts”
And elaborate a plan to get back what we need the most
We might fuck shit up, but it will be all right
Yeah we’ll fuck shit up, but it will be all right

The PBR Cologne

THE PBR COLOGNE
Someone got killed on the TV screen
But if you opened the door, you could hear the shot
While I was waiting for my entertainment, sober
Protagonists paraded in confusion
And unaware of the outside world
And I was waited on by deception, sober
Bummed out and disillusioned, I hit the streets in the rain
Still struggling with the concept of not numbing the pain
In the scent of candles, hands were held and raised
Through strength of emotion, a soul was praised
I was singing with the silent choir, sober
But from all sides, shots arrived
Anxiety-fueled impulse marked the night
How could I just lay my head down, sober?
A wounded people grasping for inner peace.
Could never stop those god damn vultures in their feast
So I got to a house where death is only
An innocent slogan to savage beauty
Oh please St-Henri, won’t you show me a good time
In loyal support, hands were put together
For the ones who invoked candid splendor
For a minute I forgot about the PBR cologne
“Don’t say we never tried”, a mantra care of the Captain
It suddenly became an anthem for all of us on the wagon
I’ve been looking forward to salvation
Been working on a plan B to enjoy myself
But the outside world is not providing me with hope
Because everyone else is so hectic
And they’re all self-medicating
I need a new perspective, so I can finally cope

Right From The Start

RIGHT FROM THE START
You cannot be numb anymore
It was only a matter of time
Unlocking a weight, your body is ready
To feel what was triggered by your mind
Do you wish you could just let go and trust?
Is something making you constantly aware?
Is the perspective of harm making you restless?
See the catch 22 when your judgement is impaired?
Of course I’ll bear with you
If you ever tell me that you
Don’t feel safe anywhere, anymore.
But promise the kid in this picture
That what was lost
You’ll keep looking for
If your gut decisions didn’t turn into nightmares.
If this god damn city stopped falling apart.
If your physical integrity was taken care of
Right from the start
Do you wish you could just let go and trust?
Is something making you constantly aware?
Is the perspective of harm making you restless?
See the catch 22 when your judgement is impaired?
Of course I’ll bear with you
If you ever tell me that you
Don’t feel safe anywhere, anymore.
But promise the kid in this picture
That what was lost
You’ll keep looking for
Why is the carpet abruptly pulled from under me?
How did it come to be? How do I get relief? How do I get relief?

Chest Pains

CHEST PAINS
Your body is waiting for a tragedy
Yet your will is urging you to go
There is a million different ways you can make an escape
As you watch mortality unfold
You chose to never pay attention or learn from the signs
When you embrace this fragile balance, solace you find
Little time to rejoice when you have to pay the price
Forgot about the interest rate on your life
Seeking shelter for this yearning heart
Yields only torture for the mind
Symptoms of a weaning body
Telling you of when you went so high
A meticulously executed ritual
There’s no neglect in all things meaningful
In every single detail you anticipate transition
You might solemnly comply with tradition
But you’ll only go as far as the end of your chain
The burden of the past, a reminder you went blind
This pain in your chest like a vicious remnant
The ghost of a role in a play left behind
The variables of this equation may change
But you can constantly rely on chest pains to shut you down
Seeking shelter for this yearning heart
Yields only torture for the mind
Symptoms of a weaning body
Telling you of when you went so high
When everything has been said and all has been done
Can we honestly believe and proclaim that we’ve won?
It never was a competition, it’s a war against ourselves
And we have to reach a cease-fire before we’re in hell.
Seeking shelter for this yearning heart
Yields only torture for the mind
Symptoms of a weaning body
Telling you of when you went so high
